I'm formulating an opinion on the Marc by Marc show. I'm liking the mad bow shapes on the clothes formed by twisted fabrics. It's normally the preserve of much girlier clothing and usually in pastel so its nice to see bows not stuck on and in much more interesting colors and patterns.
It's looking like the shoulder blanket / throw is back as well - gross. I'm seeing a lot of 90s on the catwalks and this makes me think of Alexander Wang's previous season offering which saw the return to the 90s love of logos. Although Wang's logo was little more then a large dose of self promotion which to me, missed the mark and sailed into being vulgar - this is still not to my taste.
Good lord no - is that a thick alice band in the hair!??!?!? I saw a girl recently with a black thick velvet one in her hair. Please no that the 80s dodgy hairband of choice is making a comeback. I cannot be dealing with that. It was bad enough when hipsters born in the 90s discovered scrunchies. I can just about cope with that.
Apparently the hair was based on Wednesday Adams and the skin was left bare with a large amount of sculpting going on. I have a feeling there is going to be another round of people searching for BB creams after this season. So far it is looking like texture for beauty this time. It's the glittery lips at Rodarte, bare skin at Marc and erm, dip dyed fingers at Thom Browne.....count me out of the last one.
